Music movement, motivation, be #UNBREAKABLE. Yo. So tonight I want to talk to you about something that, you know, really I had to learn to and it’s very important work life balance. Okay. This is crazy when right? I mean, this is a big question. This is a big question for people. Now, do you often find that you struggle and wrestle with work life balance? You know, do you feel like you eat like, every time you’re, you know, somewhere, and you’re either working, or you’re not working? Because spending time with your family? Do you find yourself thinking about the other thing? Right? When you’re at home, you think about work. And when you’re at work, you’re thinking about home? Yeah, I know. And do you often find that you are just when you’re just chilling? Just at any given moment, you’re always thinking about your to do list? Right. So here’s the thing. A lot of people struggle with this, and they wrestle with this thought of work life balance. And let’s just say tonight, I want to bust the bubble. I want to burst the bubble. And I want to tell you that it is a cultural myth that you can have work life balance. I know it sounds crazy. I I do believe that this is possible. Okay. Yeah, we got DJ who’s who’s in the house as DJ? Is that? DJ Level? Level? Kev? What’s up? Yeah, what’s what’s good up in the Twitch chat. Welcome to the show. Yo, so here’s the thing with work life balance, it’s overrated, okay. It’s a fundamentally flawed, unachievable concept. And this is hard to grasp, because a lot of people, you know, do the work life balance, and they really try their best to, to do it, you know. But the notion of work life balance, work, work and life balance suggests that we should have this perfect balance between our personal and our professional responsibilities at any given time. Now this man is can’t this is for, that can be further from the truth for the majority of people, okay. And that’s because life is seasonal. Life is seasonal, when you really think about it. In other words, there’s many seasons, when the scales tip, the scales tip in favor of profession, professional responsibilities, and aspirations. And then there may be seasons when personal lives take priority. And that’s the whole thing with balance. It’s, you know, if you think of a scale and balancing, it’s not always just perfect, at a perfect balance, sometimes one side gets heavier, sometimes the other side gets heavier, one side gets lighter. So that’s what it’s, that’s what we want to talk about. Because it’s not all or nothing. And I think that’s where a lot of people get discouraged, and start to think like they’re failing at life, or they’re failing at their life responsibilities, or they’re failing at their work responsibilities, because you make it we make it an all or nothing thing, where it’s like, either all work or all, just regular life and personal life. And then we struggle with the balance. And then if it goes off balance, we get pissed off at ourselves. And that’s not good. Because we, we got to give ourselves a little grace, because work life balance is not achievable in this current kind of thought, right? So that’s what we want to talk about. So it’s not just 50/50, okay? And what works for one person, it may not work for you, and what works for you today may not work for you down the road. And the seasons of life can also extend to your spirituality, your relationships, your health, fitness, and other aspects of your life. Now, it’s not to say that you should ever neglect the key areas of your life. After all, it’s not about how much time it’s about being intentional with your time. All right. And that’s what we’re talking about being intentional with your time. So we all get the same amount of time. But what do you do with your time is what we’re talking about tonight, right?
How do you get that work life balance for yourself? Is it possible? It’s not possible because it’s always a balancing act? All right. So you have to think intentional time you got to think intentionally or Are you living intentionally? Are you using your time wisely? Are you using it with intention? Are you present when you’re with your family? Are you seriously zoned in on the opportunity at hand that you have right? Or are you distracted by everything else that you could be doing? Right? Like I was saying, like, Are you constantly in one of the other states when you’re in your current moment instead of being present? So you got to remember that you got to be intentional with your time. And whatever you do, you have to put your full person into it. So whether that’s during life, during your personal stuff, or during your work stuff, you have to be intentional. And you have to put all of yourself into it. That’s right. And you have to understand that work life balance may not happen. Because it’s always balancing. So don’t your goal should not be a work life balance. Your goal should be to be intentional when you’re at work, and intentional when you’re handling your personal business. And then just balancing that constantly like it’s a constant, ever evolving status that you want to be in. So I want you to start thinking about that how can you start thinking about that and then applying it to your life right now? If you get pissed at yourself, because you’re you know feeling like you’re failing at work life balance. Yo, give yourself some grace understand that to live the #UNBREAKABLE life that you deserve. There is no work life balance it is that term doesn’t exist. It’s an always balancing act. It’s ever evolving. And you always want to be aware and intentional with your time wherever you’re at at the present moment. i That’s right, y’all. Let’s do this. If you’re on Twitch hit me with that mind blown, Emote. Let’s do it. We’re gonna get back into this music but I want you to think about that work life balance on now. Doesn’t exist for us anymore. All right, let’s get back into it. It’s the #UNBREAKABLE mixshow. My name is DJ Tony J. Come on. Come on.

A quick intro to everything Tony...

Tony is the author of Disable Your Disability, a book about learning how to live the healthy life you deserve despite your physical limitations. He was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bones) and has endured 70+ fractures throughout his life. At the ripe young age of 42, he had to embrace his disability to save his life, so against all odds, pushed himself through an 8-month physical transformation that ended up being just as important mentally and emotionally.

Tony also loves music. He’s been an emcee and DJ since the mid-80’s and has DJ’d professionally since 1996 (and continues to do so!). He’s created and released independent hip hop music, and found most of his success when he and his wife, Teemaree, released 3 albums as Dynamite Jive in the early 2000’s.

In addition to all this, Tony has worked professionally in the television/film industry since 2001, and created his own company, Egg Sandwich Media, to work as a one-man-production-band; wearing the hat of Producer all the way to Video Editor.

He currently lives in Detroit, MI with his wife and they enjoy their empty-nester life in the desert.
