How to Stop Struggling in Life

Do you struggle in life? I know I did for a very long time!

The great news is that you don’t have to struggle anymore, I’ve got the answer for you!

Let’s get into it!

My struggles.

I personally struggled since the day I was born.

With my disability, I struggled since day one. Physically, I struggled. As a kid, I used a wheelchair, so going to school was a struggle.

Then as I started to grow up, I struggled more. I started walking on crutches in high school and when I went to college, it was difficult because people would stare at me and say weird stuff all the time!

And when it was time to graduate and move into the workforce, guess what? I continued to struggle! Even after I started walking without any assistance at the age of 24!

I struggled in relationships.

I found myself struggling financially.

And when it cam to my health, that’s where I struggled the most!

You name it, I struggled with it. And all the while, I felt pretty down about the various situations and myself.

And then I made the choice to stop struggling with situations in my life. I needed to do something different to feel better and get through these situations easier and more powerfully.

So what did I do to stop struggling?

I changed my vocabulary and learned a new word.


And that word was Challenge!

Instead of saying I was struggling, I chose to say, I was being challenged!

Now, on the surface, these two might look to be the same thing.

But here’s the major difference between these two. It’s the energy that you’re putting toward the situation and the energy around the situation!

In a struggle, there’s so much resistance. There’s a sense of violence, a negative feeling around struggling.

And when we SAY we’re struggling, in essence, it doesn’t define any outcome. So we’ll just… stay… struggling!

However, when we talk about a challenge! Well, now we’re talking about a whole other ballgame!

In fact, it’s exactly like a ballgame, because when we look at the definition of a “challenge”, it says, being called to take part in a contest or competition!

What’s the difference between struggle and challenge?

Now here’s the key differencea competition or contest has an ending, a finish line! 

There’s gonna be a winner and the winner might as well be you, right?!

Let’s face it, we’re competing with ourselves 99.9 percent of the time!

When we say we’re challenged by something, we give ourselves a path to completion. A solution. An actual way out!

Puzzles are challenging, but they can be completed!

A 5K is a challenge, but it can be finished!

Do you feel the difference between these two? It’s the energy in and around these words that will ultimately dictate the outcomes!

After changing my life from struggles to challenges, I started succeeding in every aspect of life; relationships, finances, career, and especially my health as it related to my disability!

A quick intro to everything Tony...

Tony is the author of Disable Your Disability, a book about learning how to live the healthy life you deserve despite your physical limitations. He was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bones) and has endured 70+ fractures throughout his life. At the ripe young age of 42, he had to embrace his disability to save his life, so against all odds, pushed himself through an 8-month physical transformation that ended up being just as important mentally and emotionally.

Tony also loves music. He’s been an emcee and DJ since the mid-80’s and has DJ’d professionally since 1996 (and continues to do so!). He’s created and released independent hip hop music, and found most of his success when he and his wife, Teemaree, released 3 albums as Dynamite Jive in the early 2000’s.

In addition to all this, Tony has worked professionally in the television/film industry since 2001, and created his own company, Egg Sandwich Media, to work as a one-man-production-band; wearing the hat of Producer all the way to Video Editor.

He currently lives in Detroit, MI with his wife and they enjoy their empty-nester life in the desert.
