Baby Steps vs. Massive Action

So which is better? The debate is a big one.

Should you take baby steps or is it better to take massive action when you’re working on achieving your goals?

I dive a bit deeper into it in this clip from The #UNBREAKABLE Mixshow!

Be sure to pick up a copy of my book, “Disable Your Disability: Live the Healthy Life You Deserve!” here.

And let me know your thoughts… comment below!

Welcome to the show, you know, we are all about this music movement motivation, be #UNBREAKABLE. That’s right. That’s right. And tonight, I want to give you a little bit of motivation. Now, in my book, disabling your disability, I talk about this debate of sorts, it’s called baby steps versus massive action. And these these topics, these, these, this, these concepts are debated, like quite a lot, because there’s two ways to kind of get things done. You either, like, take baby steps to make it happen, or you take massive action to make it happen. And either one actually will work. Okay, let me just preface it with that, because I know I got a lot of different people watching, and I’m not sure where your head lies, right now, like, as far as your thoughts on do you take baby steps? Or do you take massive action? But it’s all good? Because either one is being an action. And that’s a good thing, right? But let me just talk about it really quickly. So baby steps, what does that mean? That means taking things little by little. And when you do things little by little. Now, why do we do things little by little, I used to do this all the time. And in fact, I’ve been catching myself almost doing this now. And it’s been kinda like, Man, I gotta watch myself. Because when you take things little by little, the whole point is that you’re being calculated, you’re thinking about it, you’re, you feel like you’re doing something extra. And again, being careful. And you’re watching every step, right, you’re making sure that everything is exactly how it should be, you’re making sure everything is perfect, before it gets going. And writing you’re doing little by little by little trying to achieve a goal. And unfortunately, this doesn’t always work. In fact, it can be counterintuitive, to actually achieving a goal. And again, I talk about it in my book, disable your disability. So make sure you head over to the website, get yourself a copy of this, because there’s a bunch of stuff in this section. That’s all about mindset and changing your mindset. So I talked about this baby steps versus massive action. And the problem is, with taking baby steps, there’s two issues. Number one, it takes you forever. Let me say that again for ever to get anything done. Okay? It takes forever to get things done. That’s the first reason that it’s like, kind of difficult to take little by little. And then the other reason you don’t want to necessarily do little by little is because you can actually lose focus and lose motivation toward your goal. If you just take it too slowly. If you’re just going little by little, little baby steps, you know, like trying to achieve your goal, you may lose focus and get like interrupted and distracted by something else and not even continued to achieve that goal not even continue toward that goal. So that’s why you don’t want to necessarily do that little by little thing, the baby steps okay. And then we have massive action. So what is massive action, massive action I first heard about through Tony Robbins, who is one of the other Tony’s by the way that you should be listening to. There’s four Tony’s in this world that you need to listen to. Okay, there’s Tony Jacobsen, Tony Robbins, Tony Horton and Tony the Tiger. Okay, those are the four Tony’s that you should be listening to. And luckily, you’re listening to the first one tonight Tony Jacobsen, that’s me. Make sure you head over to my website, tonyjacobsen.com and pick up a copy of disable your disability All right, the book is available and you can read all about this what I’m talking about tonight and a ton of other concepts and and things that are really cool about living a healthy lifestyle. All right. So massive action I heard from Tony Robbins and it really made sense because massive action is really just going for it like not waiting, just going for the big gusto taking massive action huge steps. Right away. No waiting. No thinking about it. Just doing it. Yes. Right. And it’s crazy because like when we do that well what I say in the book is the most significant debate point here is that when taking massive action a person could miss things and details could fall off fall through the cracks. It won’t be perfect when you take massive action. Right so that’s a big deal for people. They’re like man, I really got to do it. I got to like, you know, take take some massive action but what if I miss something? What if I miss something it’s not going to be perfect. Because you’re really kind of going massive action is like going towards going for it. Big big style right Big Willie style. And so here’s the thing, there is no such thing as perfect. There is no perfect job. There is no perfect. That’s where you can rely on massive action because you actually get into action quickly and you can achieve your goals faster, and really get to them quicker. So it’s really important to think about possibly moving into massive action, as opposed to little by little. So I want you to think about this. All right? I want you to think about it. What do you do? Do you do little by little? Or do you do massive action? It’s okay, if you do both, because look, both can work. Like I said, at the beginning. Both can work. I’ve personally done both. I’ve done little by little. I’ve done massive action. And I’ve achieved so many goals in life. And it feels good. And that’s the whole point because that’s what it’s all about. That’s what living in unbreakable life is all about. And it’s all about having a good day. Right? Like my shirt says, It’s a good day to have a good day. So I hope you’re having a good day, checking out the unbreakable mix show. My name is DJ Tony J. A quick intro to everything Tony...

Tony is the author of Disable Your Disability, a book about learning how to live the healthy life you deserve despite your physical limitations. He was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bones) and has endured 70+ fractures throughout his life. At the ripe young age of 42, he had to embrace his disability to save his life, so against all odds, pushed himself through an 8-month physical transformation that ended up being just as important mentally and emotionally.

Tony also loves music. He’s been an emcee and DJ since the mid-80’s and has DJ’d professionally since 1996 (and continues to do so!). He’s created and released independent hip hop music, and found most of his success when he and his wife, Teemaree, released 3 albums as Dynamite Jive in the early 2000’s.

In addition to all this, Tony has worked professionally in the television/film industry since 2001, and created his own company, Egg Sandwich Media, to work as a one-man-production-band; wearing the hat of Producer all the way to Video Editor.

He currently lives in Detroit, MI with his wife and they enjoy their empty-nester life in the desert.
